What on earth is chair yoga???
Laura Green defines chair yoga as "a style of yoga which is easily adapted to the needs of each student or community. It can be an entirely seated practice or incorporate standing poses using a chair for support and stability."
Chair yoga is great for anyone who is not comfortable or able to participatein a mat based class. This may include those with reduced mobility, physical limitations or medical needs such as:-
-arthritis
-Fibromyalgia
-back pain
-problems kneeling
-age related limitations
-dizziness/ vertigo
-desk based office workers
-wheelchair users and much more.
A chair yoga class is structured in a very similar way to a class that doesn't use chairs. It incorporates many of the traditional poses, adapted so that they are accessible to all. There are variations and options for each pose and I will demonstrate, guide and assist you in finding out what feels right for you.
